The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) organised a high-level workshop to explore AI applications and digitization in waste management, foster institutional integration, and drive sustainable environmental innovation in line with Abu Dhabi’s smart future vision.
Workshop objectives
- Strengthen cooperation in AI-driven waste management
- Showcase innovations and best practices
- Drive strategic dialogue with actionable outcomes
- Foster partnerships across government, academia and industry
Gianmarco Mazzocchi, who presented Whiteshield’s work at the event, reflected:
It’s been a real honor to be invited by the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) and ADNOC Group to speak at the event on AI in Sustainable and Smart Waste Management. There, I presented Whiteshield’s recent work on deploying an AI-powered geospatial application to detect illegal waste dumps across the Abu Dhabi emirate using satellite imagery.
In the past year we witnessed an explosion in computer vision use cases for smart city applications, and the UAE is definitely at the forefront of innovation adoption on this field. Just in the past 12 months, Whiteshield has developed and deployed over 10 solutions in this field, and the outlook for the near future seems even more promising.
